still on the road but always thinking about flowers

Still on the road and having such a wonderful vacation.
While at the Cape in Centerville, Ma visiting my brother and sister in law at their uber stunning and
oh so comfortable summer house,
(thanks for everything mark and jean!)
I could not resist making an arrangement out of all the finds there. I always get inspired by things that grow wild in other places that I can not forage at home. So it was easy here….
somethings wild and
somethings from their gardens……

Everyone calls them beach cherries but they are the large buds of the "Rosa Rugosa" which grow wild and is a vicious thorny little thing. But too tempting with bright green leaves and bright orange fruits.

The pointed and serrated strong leaves of the wild anemones …. wish I could cut this foliage to use all the time. They are the perfect texture for flowers.

Even the curly and thick shrub oak trees had  more interesting leaves than ours
(maybe I just had Cape eyes).

Hostas were in full bloom everywhere. Who would not want that smell in their arrangements! So spicy and clean white and they hold for days.

Frankie approved!

on the road

We are on the road again! One of our definite stops is always Terrain. The nursery, garden and home store outside Philadelphia that always inspires and always tempts me to buy too much. But the cafe is what we really look forward too. Fresh veggies and light fare is just what we crave after so many hours in the car pigging on snack food
(confession…. my devil is sweet potato chips)
And their honey cinnamon iced chai is a bit dangerous especially with the challah cooked in little pots served with herbed butter (maybe the chips are not so bad?)…..

Loved their intimate private dining space. How perfect for a birthday surprise….

Shots from the store and a friend we met in the nursery….
